Itinerary

Day 1: New Delhi to Ambala 220 km
New Delhi is a massive city with some of the world’s worst congested traffic, it’s not somewhere you want to start your motorcycle tour! One of our air conditioned mini buses will whisk you north to Ambala where the motorcycles will be waiting for you. Time permitting, in the afternoon, we’ll take a ride and make sure the motorcycle is setup to fit you for this tour.
Day 2: Ambala to Shimla 150km
Curvy roads take us on our first full day’s ride north to Shimla. Purched on the mountain side, the former summer capital of British colonial India, Shimla’s Victorian era architecture is an amazing contrast compared to the rest of the day’s ride. It’s the perfect riding stop for the night, riddled with history.
Day 3: Shimla to Manali 250 km
A full days riding. From Shimla we will ride the mountain passes and valley’s north west through the Kullu Valley (“Valley of the Gods”) towards Manali. The road follows the Beas River & lush green valley’s we’re now getting ready for some altitude.
Day 4: Manali – Jispa (150 km)
Leaving Manali, we start the day with the Rohtang Pass (3978 meters), no where near as high as we’ll get, but a good way to get acclimatized to the altitude. We pass through the Lahaul Valley where there are mountains capped with snow all around. Enjoy a “mountain dinner” of steamed momos and thukpa. Thukpa is a very famous traditional Himalayan soup which is made by mixing meat and vegetables (optional of course).
Day 5: Jispa – Pang (150 km)
When we leave from Jispa, we will enter the Greater Himalayan landscape. While we are on this route, we will see that the mountains are bigger on this part of the highway. Enjoy the view and later cross the Baralachha Pass (5000 meters). From there, head towards Sarchu which forms the border line between Kashmir and Himachal. From there, we reach the Pang camp. Pang is a place where you will witness a mix of different natural formations which are seen through the roads and sand. Relax for the rest of day and keep it high on fluids.
Day 6: Pang – Leh (ride 150 km)
This day comes with a few challenges as we will have to bike through flatlands and get into the mountain-range-horizon. Cross the Tanglang-La Pass which is the second-highest motorable mountain pass in the world at the height of 5300 meters. After crossing this pass, we will have to bike through well-maintained roads all the way to Leh. En-route we will get to see the monasteries of Thiksey and Shey which are set on the top of a hill. Check-in at the hotel in the borders of Changspa. Spend evening chilling out at the place. Explore the culture and geography of Ladakh in the next few days.
Day 7: Leh
Spend the whole day sightseeing around Leh & also ride the highest motorable pass in the world, Tha Khardung Pass, altitude 5,359 meters. With a mixed population of Muslim and Buddhist, the place houses a large Masjid and a Tibetan Gompa. There are many eating joints at the central street which serve a wide variety of cuisines. This day, explore Leh on foot and visit the Old Fort which looks over the city. Spend the evening at any of the garden restaurants which are popular in this place.
Day 8: Leh – Pangong Lake (ride 149 km)
Pay a visit to the Pangong Lake which is the largest brackish water lake in Asia. The 2/3rd portion of the lake lies in China. After this visit, you will cross the Chang La (5500 meters) and go forward to an army checkpoint at Tangse. Have a comfortable stay at night in the resort.

Day 11: Sarchu – Manali (ride 215 km)
In the morning, drive through the Sarchu plain and reach the Baralaccha plain till noon. Enjoy a smooth ride up the Lahaul ranges and reach Rohtang pass. Rohtang pass will come with a number of challenges with mini-rivers of mud. Have a comfortable stay at the hotel in Manali.
