12 motorcycles in total for this China motorcycle tour, jam packed full of riding and scenery everyday for 13 days, covering 4,600 km.
The motorcycles we took ranged from KTM 1190 Adventure R’s, right down to new Honda CB 500 F’s, lightly modified for more comfortable, long distance touring.
One of the most convenient things about this motorcycle tour, is that it starts and finishes in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a beautiful sophisticated, city, right in the heart of north Thailand. A very friendly motorcycle city. It’s only about 4 hours riding time, including stops, to the Laos border with Thailand and before you know it you’re on your way to China, on one of the most interesting motorcycle tours in the world.
We spend 1 night in Laos as we head eastwards towards the Laos/ China border, making this an Asian 3 nation motorcycle tour, in some respects. All the motorcycles were carefully checked before leaving, 400km already under our belts and all the bikes are performing well.
We get a quick look at Laos as we ride east & transit Laos to get to China. The first day will get you used to the motorcycle ready for crossing into China the next day. Crossing into China can take a while, we have professional staff that get the process completed as quick as possible. Temporary driving licenses and temporary Chinese registration are issued for each rider.
While in Laos, we get the opportunity to looks around the local markets and see the ethnic way of life which has been unchanged for hundreds of years.
